Starting a new job is a big deal, and it's completely normal to feel a bit nervous about balancing work, study, and life. You might wonder, "What happens if I get stuck?" "Who do I talk to if things get tough?" or "Can I change my mind?"
The honest answer? You are never doing this alone. From the moment you sign up, you have a built-in safety net designed to support you.
Your Lifetime Learning Coach ๐ก
Think of your Learning Coach as your personal mentor, cheerleader and advisor all rolled into one. From them, you'll receive:
โ Regular Check-ins
โ Tailored Help
โ Help communicating with your Employer
They aren't just there to grade your work. They meet with you regularly to see how you are coping with your workload and your mental well-being. If you have learning differences, dyslexia or just need a bit of extra time to understand a module, your coach will adapt the learning to fit how you learn best!
If you are finding a certain aspect of your job difficult, your coach can help you communicate with your manager to find a solution.
Your Workplace Team ๐ค
Your learning doesn't just happen through a book or a screen. It happens on the shop floor, in the kitchen, or at the front desk.
Most of our partner employers will pair you with an experienced team member or former apprentice when you start (who will be your Line Manager).
And most of all, your manager knows you are there to learn. They are committed to giving you the time and space to complete your apprenticeship modules during your working hours.
"What if I want to change direction?"
Here is a reassuring truth: your first choice doesn't have to be your forever choice.
Hospitality is massive, and it's completely okay to realise a few months in that your passions lie somewhere else. If you want to change track, here's how we handle it together:
- Switching Roles: If you started in the kitchen but realise you actually love interacting with guests front of house, talk to your coach and manager. Because hospitality is so flexible, employers are often happy to move you to a different department.
- Pausing or Changing Levels: Life happens. If personal circumstances change and you need to take a temporary break from your studies, or if you feel the course level isn't the right fit, we can pause or adjust your program.
